EEK! Happy Halloween - Lori Whitlock Design Team Project

Hello, everyone and Happy Halloween, here are a couple of projects and tutorial on how I replaced the score marks on the Gift Bag 2 file from Lori’s shop using Silhouette Studio Business Edition so I could use the scoring stylus tool on the Cricut Maker.

You can get the file here from the Silhouette Design Store, but for this purpose, I’m using the svg from Lori’s shop and I’ll explain why. I use Silhouette Studio Business Edition to design my projects even if I’m going to cut from one of my other cutting machines. I really like the Silhouette Studio software and with the Business Edition I’m able to save my projects as an svg which I can then upload into Cricut Design Space or Brother Canvas, you can't do that with the Basic or Designer Editions and you can't open svg files with the Basic Edition. What you can't do with the Business Edition is use an image from the Silhouette Design Store and save it as an svg, the lines around the whole image will save as score marks so that’s why I’m not using the bag from the Silhouette Store.

After opening the bag the first thing I do is change the fill to a lighter color and the lines to black, this way the new lines I put in will show up as red, makes it easy to line up.

I just quickly add lines over the score marks, I'm not exact here, I fix them and add the diagonal lines when I zoom in.

Zooming in I draw the diagonal lines and align all the other ones as close as I can get.

When I'm done I select the new lines and make a compound path, if I don't do that when I upload to Cricut Design Space the score lines are off from the project.

I finish by ungrouping the bag, deleting the original score marks and group with the new score lines. I select all and go to file and save selection to hard drive and in the save as type select svg.

When I upload the bag into Cricut Design Space the size is much smaller, so I resize to match what it is in Silhouette Studio and change the new lines I created to score.

Here's a closer look at each bag, I dressed them up with the characters from the Cute Halloween Set from Lori's shop and here from the Silhouette Design Store.

The paper I used is from Doodlebug Design's Booville collection and Gingham-Linen Petite Prints.

The eyes I believe I bought at Michaels and the sentiment is a stamp from My Creative Time.

Cup Of Cheer - My Creative Time Manly Monday

Hello, welcome to MCT's Manly Monday! For my project today I used the You Deserve a Break set and embossed the mug to make it look like a football.  I cut a couple of strips of paper for the strings and stamped the sentiment on one of the tags from the Holiday Tags Stamp & Die set.  I trimmed the tag down by putting it through the die cut machine again with the end of the die where I want it to cut off.

Washi Tape Greeting Cards - Doodlebug Design Team Project

Hello Everyone, I have a couple of cards to share with you today using Doodlebug's adorable washi tape. I had so much fun putting these cards together, washi tape is a quick and easy way to add decorative touches to any project.

For these three cards, I used washi tape from the Milk & Cookies collection along with some from the assortment packs.

I love pieces of washi tape with torn jagged edges place randomly on cards, so fun! I added a couple of odds & ends from the milk & cookies pack and the santa's sweet and peppermint twist washi tape also from that collection. A piece of ladybug swiss dot and gingham from the assortment pack. I finished off the card with some doodlebug sequins and glitter.  The matted red layer is ladybug textured cardstock and the sentiment is from the 6 x 6 milk & cookies paper pad. Scalloped stitched die from Gina Marie.

I love the simplicity of this card, it's all about the washi tape.  I used the gingham assortment pack to create the diagonal striped background.  The sentiment is a piece of merry christmas washi on a white strip of cardstock.  The two little gingerbread men are from the odds & ends pack. stitched frame die is from Gina Marie.

For the last card I placed washi pieces on cardstock and used a banner die to cut it out, makes such a great background!!  Washi used, santa's sweet, happy holidays and stripe assortment.  Other products, gingerbread man from odds & ends, milk & cookies 6 x 6 paper pad, raspberry textured cardstock and bubblegum chunky twine. The pennant die is from Gina Marie and speech bubble from My Creative Time.

Wedding Invitations - Willie & Kristen

I'd like to share the wedding invitations I did for my son and fiance's wedding coming up.  I had so much fun designing and cutting these invites out.  The gatefold butterfly card I bought from the Silhouette Online Store, you can get the svg version and download now which comes in handy when using with another cutting machine. I had to alter it, the card was square so I changed it to a 5 x 7 and made the cutouts a little thicker, it made it easier to get it off the mat.

The flowers I used for the invitation and envelopes are from a free set I got online called Blue Crush, I designed the invite in Silhouette Studio and printed them out two on an 8 1/5 x 11 110lb Neenah  kraft cardstock called desert storm, nd cut them out manual since it was quicker than using the machine. The envelopes are also Neenah Desert Storm, A7 80lb. The tag and stamped sentiment is from My Creative Time. I cutout 110 of these all on my Brother ScanNCut 2, it did a beautiful job.

World Card Making Day 2017

Hello and welcome, I have a fun Halloween card to share for World Card Making Day using my new Cricut Maker. So far I'm loving this machine, I've made a couple of things and every cut has been flawless. My first cut was a piece of burlap from the DCWV 6 x 6 Burlap Pad and it cut it like butter with the rotary blade, came off the mat totally clean, no snips needed.

I wanted to try a smaller burlap piece so I cut these flowers on the owl's hat and I'm totally amazed how perfectly they came out.  For this project, I used paper from Doodlebug Design, mostly from their Booville collection. The owl is from the layered halloween embellishments 1set from Lori Whitlock's shop and sentiment is also from the Booville collection.

Here's another card I made using the Cricut Maker

This cut file is also from Lori's shop, it's in the layered Halloween embellishment 2 set. I made it into a card and added the nose, the patterned paper and sentiment is from Doodlebug's Booville collection. Once again the cricut maker cut beautifully!!
